Realtime Turbidimeter (LA-500)

The Loopamp® Realtime Turbidimeter (LA-500) device is specifically designed for real-time reporting of Loopmediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) reaction. LAMP utilizes a novel gene amplification method that uses a set of four target specific primers and strand displacement synthesis that results in accumulation of 109 copies of target in less than an hour. The positive results are reported through the detection of white turbidity formed by a by-product during target amplification. The user-friendly software controls the turbidimeter from a computer, allowing temperature and reaction time modifications for different tests.

Features of LA-500:

  • Two heat blocks, each holding eight samples, can be set individually with different temperature and reaction time, allowing up to two different tests to be performed at the same time.
  • Up to 16 samples can be amplified and monitored every six seconds simultaneously.
  • The heated lid of the turbidimeter prevents samples from forming condensation on the tube cover during the reaction.
  • As with other real-time amplification methods, the LAMP reaction positive reporting time is related to the initial copies of the template. With the reporting function of the Loopamp® Realtime Turbidimeter and a set of standard template samples, the LAMP amplification can be used to quantify the template in the samples.
  • The LA-500 sofware is user-friendly and very simple to operate.

Amplification Reaction and Detection Principle

The Loopamp® Realtime Turbidimeter (LA-500) controls the reaction temperature and time for the LAMP reaction. The two reaction blocks in one unit can be individually controlled. The real-time optical system detects the white turbidity formed by the amplification by-product every six seconds. At the end of the reaction, the reaction blocks are programmed to heat and inactivate the enzyme to stop the reaction. The software records and reports the result in real-time.

LA-500 uses Windows® applicable user interface which allows simple operation.

  • Ability to input various parameters such as reaction time, temperature, recording, reporting time, etc.
  • Visualization of a real-time amplification curve
  • Adjustable baselines
  • Ability to export data as CSV files
